“May he rest in peace,” a voice said outside the coffin.
“I won’t, until you go away,” whispered Tim inside.
“Did you hear that?” asked someone else. “As if…”
“Your mind’s playing tricks. It’s the grief. Let’s go.”
“But what if Tim’s still alive? There were cases…”
“You know how they found him. Tim was a great player, but this time he lost. Nobody lives with a severed, missing head.”
“Indeed,” said Tim, listening to the fading footsteps. “Nobody does. Except those who use cheat codes and know where to look.”

Why I read and write (less)
- Reason why I read less: Never been a fan of “entertainment only” novels, but I don’t believe anyone has the ultimate answers anymore either.
- Reason why I write less: Never been a fan of “entertainment only” stories & I don’t think the “wisdom” I can offer was sufficient.
- Reason why I still read & write: Raising questions I care about, food 4 thought, belief in our minds’ power to construct personal realities.

King Who Is Not
Today’s question: Why the * can’t I (get myself to) focus on writing ((longer) stories)? :( A pointless sense of urgency holds me back. Why?
-
This sense of urgency is the problem. It’s misdirected. Instead of creativity am focused on staying shallowly up to date in too many fields.
-
Need to find a way to steer my energy, to redirect my efforts. What’s the point of following 100s of sci/lit/design blogs? Yet I can’t stop.

On a (semi-)similar note…
King Nothing
Wish I may
Wish I might
Have this I wish tonight
Are you satisfied?Dig for gold
Dig for fame
You dig to make your name
Are you pacified? All the wants you waste
All the things you’ve chasedAnd it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there’s no one aroundJust want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle crumbled
And you’ve left with just a nameWhere’s your crown?
King nothing***Hard and cold
Bought and sold
A heart as hard as gold
Are you satisfiedWish I might
Wish I may
You wish your life away
Are you pacifiedAll the wants you waste
All the things you’ve chasedI wish I may
I wish I might
Have this wish I wish tonightI want that star
i want it now
I want it all and i don’t care howCareful what you wish
Careful what you say
Careful what you wish
You may regret itCareful what you wish
You just might get itThen it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there’s no one aroundNothin’
No, you’re just nothin’
Where’s your crown, King Nothing?
No, you’re just nothin’
Absolutely nothin’

(gyors reflexió a Rostos reflexiókra)

Designs for Rost
Rost Magazine is a non-profit, non-commercial literary publication in Hungarian that widely uses the Creative Commons licence. It aims to bring a diverse range of quality “flash” fiction – very short short stories – to its readers and thus popularize the genre, the authors and reading in general.
For credits, further information and larger versions, click the images (respectively.)
Hope you like them.
…és remélem, tetszik maga a magazin is, a novellákkal. :)
